- Make sure to include your first name and last initial. Example: Brenda A;
You do NOT need to include your email address. Leave that space blank. - Choose and respond to one (1) of the following questions (minimum one 6-8 sentence paragraph/ maximum three 6-8 sentence paragraphs):
- A) What makes this interpretation of the scene unique? (Make sure to comment on props, set, costumes, actors, etc.) Does the scene "come to life"? Why/why not? If so, how do the actors demonstrate Romeo and Juliet's immature/new love? What line(s) stood out to you while you watched the scene?
- B) Pretend you are a theatre critic (you write reviews of shows). What is your opinion of the Royal Shakespeare Company's performance of the scene? How would you rate it? What elements of the scene stand out to support your opinion of the performance (acting, set, props, costumes, staging [how the actors move about stage], etc.)?
- C) Compare the beginning of the scene when Romeo appears at Juliet's balcony to the second clip (BBC-- CLIP #2) below. How are the modern scenes similar and how are they different? Why do you suppose more performances are placing this play in a modern setting? Is there something lost if the play is not staged in Elizabethan England setting (Shakespeare's time period)? If so, explain. If not, why?
